DOBSON MUSTANG SOFTBALL
GENERAL TEAM GUIDELINES

The following guidelines are to be observed and complied with by every player and manager on the Varsity and JV teams.

1. Each player must have her own glove and rubber soled cleats.

2. Players must dress and report to the practice field at 2:15 until 4:30, Mon. through Fri. and Varsity 8-10 am on Sat. and holidays where scheduled.

3. Varsity practices every Sat. (8-10) unless otherwise stated. JVs will practice only on Sat. when it is announced.

4. Players must dress and report to the game field at 3:00 on all home games and be ready to board the bus at 2:30 on away games unless otherwise announced.

5. All players must call before Noon when sick or absent from practice. Try to stay healthy with NO absences. GIRLS PE phone is: 480-472-xxxx. All players must be at school (in class or on a field trip) all day on the day of a game and at practice the day before the game. Field trips are a part of school and are considered being in school. DO NOT DITCH ANY CLASS. 1st offense -- suspended from playing in the next three games. 2nd offense -- removal from the team. Also DO NOT be tardy to any class.

6. All player MUST warm-up together as a team.

7. All player MUST control their emotions at all times.

8. No cell phones or beepers are allowed in the dugout, in your bags (if they are on), or on the field. You are here to practice not take phone calls. My phone is for emergency, injury use only.

9. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and is subject to disciplinary action by the coaching staff.

10. Players must listen and obey all coaches instructions at all times.

11. All players must be safety conscious at all times.

12. Players are fully responsible for the return of all equipment under the direct supervision of the team managers.

13. Team managers are to be respected and obeyed at all times.

14. Team spirit must be maintained by every player.

15. There will be no put-downs by any team member to anyone. Your job is to build each other's confidence up. (way to go, good job, etc.)

16. Any player found in the possession of, under the influence, or with friends in the possession of or use of alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, cigarettes, or any other drugs at any time will be subject to severe disciplinary action and immediate dismissal from the team. Also, all the school's disciplinary actions will be applied to violators.

17. Players must maintain and comply with the schools academic requirements to retain team membership. All report cards must be shown to the coaches. Any problems with a class, please discuss them with your coach and the teacher.

18. No team member is ever to argue with an official.
1st offense -- AUTOMATICALLY BENCHED. 2nd offense -- REMOVED FROM THE TEAM.

19. Report all injuries to your coach (no matter how small). Ice all injuries if in doubt at home--NO HEAT!

20. To prevent illness, eat properly: give up junk food, give up desserts if you need to lose weight (eat breakfast); do your homework when it is assigned and DO NOT wait until it is due when you will stay up till 3 AM doing it. It is suggested that you be off the street and at home by 10 PM, Sun. through Thurs. and 12 midnight, Fri, and Sat. Get 6-8 hours of sleep every night. For every 2 hours of sleep you lose every night, your immune system is cut by 50% and you will catch whatever is floating around at school.

21. Remember, you are here at school to get an education. Your studies come first, show this to us in your grades. Teachers are human beings, too. Ask them for help politely, treat them nicely, and they will help you (they might even like you.)

22. In order to receive a letter and earn an A in AAPE, you must complete the entire season in good standing. If you are removed from the team, you will not receive a letter, and your grade will reflect your attitude.

23. You may be sent to Varsity or JV at any time. However, NO SENIOR may play on the JV team.

24. Set a good example 100% of the time.

25. All of the above rules and regulations must be observed and maintained by every player and manager on the team and are subject to revision and amendment by the coaching staff, as deemed necessary for the interest of the team.

26. You are not assistant coaches and we do not wish to hear who you think should be playing positions other than yours. You are NOT to bad-mouth any players, coaches, drills, workouts, on or off the field. This means either to their face or behind their back. Our program is the best in Arizona and we expect all players and managers to be proud at all times. If you show respect towards the players, they will show respect towards you. If you have any problems or suggestions, please see the head coach.

27. Only players, not parents, may talk to the coach about more playing time.

28. Check your stats after every game, and please question anything you might disagree with. We make lots of mistakes when training others to keep score.

29. The statistics are for your benefit and you may ask about any errors that you may find in them. They are not for your parents to approach the coach on any errors they may think are in your stats from a certain game. This is the players responsibility only.

30. If you become ineligible, you will have until noon of game day to get yourself eligible and in the computer or you will not play on that day.

Nancy Ellis, Varsity Coach
Approval by the Athletic Driector

I have read the General Team Rules and Regulations and I will try my hardest to follow them all. I understand all the rules and I accept the consequences. I also will consult my parents and coach if I am having any trouble following any of the rules.
