WELCOME INFO

Welcome Letter Info

Welcome, here is more information about our club than you would ever think to ask.

We have ALL skill levels. We are a small group that has been in operation since 2007 at Kokopelli. We are at around 50 members. We usually have around 24-40 members playing on any given Tuesday and around 8-20 in the summertime. So, you can see that we don't all play every Tuesday. We are a ladies league club that stays open all year around and plays every Tuesday morning no matter what at Kokopelli. Our maximum handicap allowed is 40 for all events and play of the day.

We have golfers that stay out here all year around and we have golfers that take off for their other home in the summer. We love how the club treats us here at Kokopelli ... they are just terrific. You can bring guests each week because you don't have to officially join us to come every Tuesday. Guests, of course, cannot participate in the members only events of the day. Membership events will be explained below. Just let me know to pair a guest up with you. I mix up the pairings so you can get to know everyone.

You will get an e-mail from me each week telling you that I have posted the tee times. I pair us up and send the pairings to the clubhouse on Sunday. Email me on Saturday before high noon, if you want to play and did not sign the clipboard the previous Tuesday. I send out the first rough draft of pairings to our ladies on Sat. This will remind you if you remembered to sign up for Tuesday. If you are not on the list, just drop me an email and I will add you at: nancylynellis@gmail.com . or you can text me 480-695-1504. Remember that the time given is your tee off time so give yourself plenty of time to pay and get set up to play. Get there at least :30 minutes before the tee time because we all tee off at the same time. We tee off every Tuesday, all year around. We encourage all member to post their scores with the app … GHIN. You should always post your scores on the same day that you play. You will receive an official GHIN number when you join us. Our Kokopelli forward tees are silver. Ask me about posting and I will explain it to you.

In Nov. thru April, many just show up at 8:00 (or earlier to hit balls on the range) and tee off at 8:30 together and the club has our names on the golf carts, we all gather and chit chat or hit practice balls before teeing off. I pair everyone up each and every week rotating everyone around so they can meet and greet new golfers. They give us lunch free so we all stick around after we play and eat together. There is a different buffet each week and it is always delicious and it is free. We have 2 groups at hole one (1A, 1B) and then they send us back to 18, 17, and 16 if needed (with 2 groups each, A and B) so we can all finish at about the same time. Our food and drink is ready when we come in so there is no waiting for any orders to eat lunch. During the summer time (May, June, July, and August), we tee off at 7:00. During the official season, which runs from September thru April, we tee off at 8:30 all together in a shotgun.

We stay open all year around and those exact play of the days are located at the play of the day page when you go to our webpage.
You can click on the links on the left side of the page and see all the things we have posted.

Prices we pay for playing golf are listed on the tee times page also, just scroll down. Also posted on our homepage.

The prices include: lunch and it is a great buffet and a salad, range balls, tax, $3 prize money for play of the day, and a 20% discount in the Pro Shop. The membership fee to join our ladies league is $75 of which $40 goes to the AGA (you receive a $5 discount for online registration) for that membership and gives you a GHIN number and an official handicap; $8 goes to the CAGD membership; a bag Tag, and $1 goes into the hole in one fund and a fantastic free lunch. You will officially join online in October and I will send out instructions to everyone how to do this during the first week in October. If you already belong to another club then the AGA only charges you $15 and not $40 and the $35 to our club so it is $50 and not $75 if you already belong to another club and have a GHIN number. Actually I have the online registration at the end of this welcome letter.

NEW info from AGA for 2026 …
"AZ GOLF will maintain the standard membership rate of $45 for the 2026 membership year.
The $5 online join and renew discount will be discontinued. Both will begin on October 1, 2025."
Ladies, what this means is that the rate goes up $5 because we always do online registration
and get $5 back and they are not doing that anymore.
So, the Kokopelli dues stay at $35 and the AGA will charge you $15 for any additional clubs = $50.
If you did not belong to another club then the dues would be $80 ($35 for Kokopelli and $45 for the AGA).
You can officially join Kokopelli for 2026 after the 1st week in October of 2025.

Here is how you join. You will need you GHIN number
Online registration at: https://membership.azgolf.org/join-the-arizona-golf-association/join/?cid=4847
The AGA always sends me an email when you join.

Play of the day and proxy events are only available for members. The 29 putt club is only available for members from September thru April but open to anyone in the summertime. The 50-50 is open to anyone all the time.

Prices are for 2025 Jan, Feb., & March for $59 … April for $50… May for $39… June thru September for $30 … October for $37 … November for $47 and December for $50. These prices may change every January 1st.

Our members also participate in a match play league for our better golfers: Click on Match Play on the left side of the page. If you are interested in playing different courses against new and different ladies in a match play team format each month, Nov. thru March, this is your chance. As of now we have 4 teams: Golden Hills, Apache Creek, Queen Valley, and us-Kokopelli. Sally Christensen is in charge of the match play league. The top 8 best players are where we start and then we ask others if they cannot make it.

If you did not golf the week before then please shoot me an email or text Friday or Saturday to add you to the next week. Sign up to play by high noon on Saturday and then I send out the pairings Saturday afternoon to all of our ladies. I like to send the Kokopelli office our official line up on Sunday. During lunch, we just sign the clipboard at our table to play the following week. The clipboard has all the dates behind the front page and some gals just sign up for a couple of week out if they know they are going to be out of town.

For MEMBERS, the first Tuesday of each month, your prize money (from winning play of the days) will be on gift cards found on our table. This club allows you to use that money for green fees so pick up your gift card before you pay. Again, this only applies to our members and not our guests. You do not receive your winning money each week but only on the first Tuesday of each month. I send out an email as to who the winners are each week and how much everyone won. Each time you play, $3 of your money goes into our account for the winners; we give winnings for 3 places in 2 to 3 flights. If you are not there on that first Tuesday when I pass out the gift cards, I will save it for you. The winnings are good for a year.

If you want to join us in golf, just send me a text or an email to play the next Tuesday or whatever Tuesday you are free.

You are welcome to come and play all year around as a guest whether you officially join us or not. You may also bring guests as often as you want also. We are a ladies league so no male guests. If you are not a member, then you may NOT participate in the play of the day, the proxy event, or the 29 putt club during our official season but we love to have you play with us as often as possible. During the summertime, we open up the 29 putt money to anyone. We have a 50-50 money pot each and every week and this is open to anyone, guests or members all year around. We give out 50% of the money collected that day to someone, $5 for 8 tickets. The winner comes away with around $20-$60 give or take a little depending on how many buy tickets. Hole in one money (right now $50) is only available to members and members also get $10 for Eagles on any league day (Tuesday) when playing with us. Our hole in one money goes up $50 every January. Once someone gets a hole in one we start over again at $50.

When you first come in you will see the ladies putting their name on the 29 putt club envelope and they also put $1 in that envelope. If you get 29 putts (for 18 holes) or fewer on that day, you will earn a share of the final pot. If no-one has 29 putts on any given Tuesday during our season, the pot grows and your shares are worth more money. Yippee. This is available only to members until the end of April. During the summer months anyone can play in the 29 putt club so even if you are not a member, please participate in our 29 putt club money. In the summer time, the lowest putts win the money or share in the profits if there is a tie. Anyway, we have our final party on the last Tuesday of April and we pass out this 29 putt club money and other awards. So many of our golfers leave to go back home in May but we will still keep playing. In May and during the summer months, the 29 putt club money is passed out on the same day to the lowest putter and shared by anyone who has 29 OR LESS or the lowest number of putts for the day. We do not carry it over in the summer months. A fun thing that we do. Again, in the summer months, guests may participate in the 29 putt club. Our proxy events stop at the end of April when our official seasons ends.

We also have a 50-50 drawing each week. 8 tickets for $5.00. 50% of the money goes to someone every Tuesday. And this keeps our proxy event at $10 each week (2 flights) and our hole in one fund is always at least $50. It goes up $50 on January 1st each year.

My e-mail is: nancylynellis@gmail.com . and my cell is 480-695-1504.
You MUST TEXT me if you have signed up to play and cannot make it as you wake up sick. Do not call the clubhouse, text me.

I think you will love our little group. Please feel free to ask any question or concerns and I hope you will enjoy our league.
When you officially join us, you will get a GHIN number and get an official handicap and be eligible to play in AGA and CAGD tournaments. If you already have a GHIN from another state or country, you will use that GHIN #.

WELCOME ---- just email me when you want to play with us and I will put you on our schedule.

Also when you join us as an official member, I will show you how to post your scores on the USGA GHIN app that you will add to your phone.

PLEASE EMAIL ME BEFORE SATURDAY HIGH NOON before the Tuesday that you want to join us so you are on the tee time sheet I send out on Saturday. You will notice that I repeat myself several times in this welcome letter and this is because I taught high school for 40 years and my students only picked things up when I repeated them many many times. ?????? :):):)

Most everyone signs the clipboard on Tuesday, during lunch, for the following Tuesday. The clipboard has several months on it so you can always sign up ahead of time.

I do the pairings but if you wish to play with someone, link the two to four names together on the clipboard sign up sheet so that I will know when I do the pairings. You will be playing with everyone eventually but you might want to play with someone you have not played in a while.

My job is to shuffle everyone around and let you play with everyone. You can ask to play with someone you have not played with in a while by connecting your names on the sign-up sheet.

For Members, we do Ringers (during our official season) and please ask me about that once you have joined. Only members are involved in this event. We only do Ringers from September thru April. A ringer notebook is where you circle your best score on each hole each and every week and at the end of the season, we total up all your best scores on each hole and give you a score. We give awards in 3 flights from the ringer notebook. Shalayne Green does this on her computer as I text her all the scorecards and you do not have to log into a notebook anymore.

Well you now know more than you ever thought of asking and we hope to see you playing at Kokopelli soon. I save my pups from hole 11 and thus their names: Koko & Pelli

Online registration at: membership Kokopelli Link

The AZ Golf association always sends me an email when someone joins our club so if you join, I will know it and I will add you to our roster and all events.
