Day
64 - Ludington, MI to Le Roy, MI - 69
miles .............. 2753
total miles
Sunny skies all day, rolled thru forests on back roads with
little traffic and limited services. We continue to meet friendly folks when ever
we stop. Tonight we're spending the night in Le Roy at the only motel for miles,
it's one where you see the bartender to rent the room. Needless to say, it's nothing
special! We'll stay dry if it rains during the night. There are 2 restaurants
in town, both have Monday night specials. Dinner for both of us cost $6.75! No
wifi in the room so we were hanging out in the lounge using the wifi when Carl
& Dorothy, the dad & daughter cyclists we met yesterday on the ferry,
came in. They're also staying here for the night. They started their ride in Anacortes,
WA and are riding to Albany, NY. Enjoyed chatting and sharing stories about our
rides.
Day 65 - Le Roy, MI to Midland, MI - 80
miles ........... 2833
total miles
We got an early start this morning after a quick grocery store
breakfast. It was sunny but cool and breezy, we put on raincoats to block the
wind and keep warm. The first part of the ride was thru farmland. We had to regroup
as we discovered a road closed, no problem we found another. At Clare we rode
on the paved Pere Marquette Rail Trail for 31
miles to Midland. What a great trail! It's wide, smooth, no traffic, well signed,
restrooms and passes thru small towns. We also had a strong tailwind, a great
day of riding! Tonight we're staying in Midland, headquarters of Dow Chemical
founded here in 1887.
