Day
36 - Terry, MT to Wibaux, MT - 67
miles ................ 1499
total miles
We started the day with a wind coming over our right shoulders
which helped us make good time to Glendive. We had lunch and decided it was too
early to stop, knowing the next 30 miles would
be challenging as we'd be riding into a strong headwind. We left the Yellowstone
River and started a very long gradual climb to Wibaux. It was a tiring afternoon.
The scenery continues to gorgeous but be didn't have the energy to take many pictures.
We realized this is our last night in Montana, that's exciting!

A new state today!
Rumor has it North Dakota is flat and the prevailing winds are from the
west, NOT! We were greeted with a northeast wind which switch to east later in
day and it seemed like we were pedaling uphill all day. The scenery continued
to unfold as we rolled along. We also rode on the freeway, I-94, all day. We were
a bit apprehensive at first but felt very safe because of the wide, 8-10 foot
shoulder. Traffic was light until we reached Belfield. From Belfield to Dickinson
we saw many oilfield vehicles from the activity in the Bakken field around Williston.
The last miles were tough with the headwind, perceived uphill (maybe we were just
tired) and the noise from the heavier traffic. Had some dinner and a shower, life
is good

We
made thru Montana! What a beautiful state. It's aptly named "Big Sky Country".

A

We
just kept watching the beautiful landscapes unfold. This just out of Medora, |
And
the outstanding rock formations just keep on coming. |
Even
though we're south of the Bakken Oil Field, we are seeing evidence of oil production.
