Today we took the train to Fremantle just south of Perth. Fremantle is a working port for container ships, a fishing fleet, cruise ships and a large marina. We'd read there is always something happening in Fremantle, festivals, markets, exhibitions and street performances.

We changed trains in downtown Perth and took the opportunity to walk down to Elizabeth Quay. This is the Bell Tower. It has 18 bells that hang in a glass & copper campanile making it one of the worlds largest musical instruments.

The beautiful sunny Sunday brought lots of folks out to Fremantle. The park was full of families. Love the symmetry of the Norfolk Pine!

There were a couple large indoor markets stuffed with vendors and shoppers. There was food, produce, food, clothing, food, souvenirs, more food and lots of free food samples. The markets were cosmopolitan, representing the diversity of cultures here in Western Australia.

Ferries wheels always remind me of Mom, her favorite ride!

We came upon this performance of traditional Aboriginal dance. The didgeridoo player is explaining the dances and providing the accompanying music.

There are a couple beaches, no crocs here!

Many of the buildings have been restored.

The police were out on patrol. They seemed to be enjoying the beautiful day.

There are several seats near the doors on each train car labeled priority seating.

Waiting for our train in the downtown Perth station, a busy spot. Lots of people heading to the football game at Optus stadium. We haven’t figured out Australian rules football. It’s played on an oval field, 18 players each team, no protective equipment, very fast, rough and high scoring. It’s the most popular spectator sport in Australia.
