ARTICLE
I
This
association shall be known at the East Desert Ladies Team
Play League.
ARTICLE
II
The purpose
of this organization shall be to promote the game of golf
through competitive team play between member teams, to promote
good sportsmanship and increase our awareness of the rules
of golf.
ARTICLE
III
Membership
in this league shall be composed of area women's Clubs that
meet the following requirements:
1. The league will be comprised of a maximum of ten teams.
2. Clubs will be represented by teams of eight women playing
to handicap indexes no greater than 30. Players with handicap
indexes higher than 30 may participate, but they will play
to a 30 handicap index for the competition.
3. Teams shall be represented by a Captain and/or Co-captain.
4. All members must have recognized USGA handicaps established
at their home courses. Exceptions to this rule may be appealed
to the standing rules committee.
5. Players shall not play in team events which represent two
different clubs within the League
this also includes
the players and substitutes from those clubs that have two
teams.
6. New teams may be accepted by a majority vote of the existing
members.
7. Eligibility for competition shall be at the discretion
of the Club Captain and the league guidelines.
8. Requirements not covered in the By-Laws
or Standing Rules may be made by the consensus of each
team.
9. Competition shall occur on Mondays.
ARTICLE
IV
This
is a not-for-profit organization. The Board of Directors shall
specify the collection of dues/funds for the operation of
the league teams.
1. The
fees received by the host team shall be available for the
operation of their club.
2. Each team shall request from their Pro Shop, a date to
host league play at their club. The Pro Shop shall determine
the fee for play.
ARTICLE
V
The Board
of Directors shall be composed of a League Coordinator, and
Team Captains. (Note: some Clubs don't have a Co-Captain).
The Board shall exercise control of league operations and
call meetings of members as needed.
The Coordinator
shall arrange Board meetings and preside at all meetings.
She shall have one tie-breaking vote. She shall record the
minutes of each meeting and distribute a copy to each Team
Captain. She will assist with any League matters.
The Coordinator
in office shall prepare the match play schedule for the next
season. In doing so, no team should play a host team more
than once. A match of two teams should not play on the same
course as they did the year before (if possible).
The Team
Captain shall represent her Club at meetings and choose the
line up for each venue. She has one vote.
The Co-Captain
can be appointed by each Team Captain to assist and/or replace
the Team Captain when necessary. The Co-Captain has one vote
when standing in for the Team Captain.
ARTICLE
VI
The Team
Captains shall meet after the first of the year to coordinate
the dates chosen for the next season schedule. There will
be a fall meeting to coordinate everything for the season.
Other
meetings may be called by the Coordinator if deemed necessary.
ARTICLE
VII
Proposed
amendments shall be voted by the governing Board and a majority
vote shall pass the proposal.
The proposal
shall go into effect immediately if two thirds of all Directors
vote affirmatively.
